Iranian warns of consequences of replacing self-defense with preventive defense

Iranian Ambassador to Germany Majid Nili reacted to a report by the German Bundestag Scientific Services Center about Israel's attack on Iran, and said that there is no doubt that the attacks by Israel and the U.S. on Iran are gross violations of international law.

In a post on his X account, Nili wrote that there is no doubt that the attacks by Israel and the U.S. on Iran is a gross violation of international law.

He pointed out that a report from the Bundestag's scientific services also emphasizes the lack of legal justification for these attacks; including: according to Article 51 and Article 2, paragraph 4 of the United Nations Charter, these attacks lack any legal basis; expanding the concept of self-defense to preventive defense is a dangerous practice and a threat to the international legal order.

Nili said that silence in the face of such violations undermines international law and the rules-based order.

He added that in the face of such clear facts, it is surprising that some, instead of explicitly condemning the repeated violations of international law, continue to insist on standing on the wrong side of history. History will judge./irna
