MP Warns against Any Disruption to Iran’s Crude Exports

A senior Iranian lawmaker warned the US against any attempt to obstruct Iran’s crude oil exports, stressing that any harassment of Iranian tankers would not go unanswered.
Alaeddin Boroujerdi, a member of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, told Tasnim that Washington is fully aware of Iran’s naval capabilities, which it has experienced in the past.
“The Americans know well the capabilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran at sea, and they have already tested this power,” Boroujerdi said.
He cautioned that any US move to disrupt Iranian oil shipments would be met with a firm response.
“If the Americans seek to create trouble for our oil tankers, they must realize that this is a two-way road and their actions will not go unanswered,” he stated.
His comments came after the US administration on Thursday imposed sanctions on a group of 50 people, companies and ships largely out of the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong and China, alleging they were facilitating the shipment of Iranian oil and sales of liquefied petroleum gas.
Included in the penalties are two dozen ships flagged across multiple nations, allegedly concealing the origin of Iranian oil, a China-based crude oil terminal, and a non-state-owned Chinese refinery. The US Treasury Department claimed they are key to Iran’s ability to export petroleum and petroleum products.
The US administration is citing a collection of executive orders signed by President Donald Trump, including one in February that calls for the United States to “drive Iran’s export of oil to zero.”/tasnim
