The Iranian Foreign Ministry has invited the charge d'affaires of the Omani Embassy in Tehran to the ministry regarding rumors that two people in that country died after consuming mineral water imported from Iran.
Following the baseless speculation by some Omani media outlets that the deaths of two people in Oman were due to the consumption of mineral water imported from Iran, the charge d'Affaires of the Omani Embassy in Tehran was invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday by Abdul Rasoul Shabibi, head of the Second Persian Gulf Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The head of the Second Persian Gulf Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Iran's official protest against the negative media atmosphere regarding mineral waters imported from Iran, and called for accelerating the clarification of the main issue.
He emphasized, "It is not appropriate for an incident that had nothing to do with drinking water attributed to an Iranian company, and was in fact a family criminal matter motivated by revenge, to be used as a basis for labeling a product imported from Iran."
The charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of Oman, while emphasizing the importance of preserving the long-standing and good relations between the two countries, stressed that he would report the matter to the relevant authorities of the country as soon as possible.
It is recalled that, according to reliable information, the death of an Omani citizen and foreign family servant was a criminal matter./mehr
