Iran’s oil minister visits Qatar to attend GECF meeting

Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad has left Tehran for Doha to participate in the 27th Ministerial Meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), scheduled to be held on Friday.

Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad departed Tehran on Tuesday night to attend the 27th Ministerial Meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Doha, Qatar.

The meeting, which will take place on Thursday, marks the seventh time Qatar has hosted the GECF ministerial session, with the last one held in 2016.

Key data-x-items on the agenda include coordination among member states to address global policies that could pose challenges to the development and trade of natural gas. Participants will also discuss organizational matters, including the election of the next GECF Secretary-General and preparations for the 8th GECF Heads of State Summit to be held in Moscow.

An extraordinary session of the GECF Executive Board will convene on Wednesday to review the draft agenda, resolutions, and the final communiqué of the ministerial meeting.

As the GECF’s highest decision-making body, the Ministerial Meeting is held annually to determine key organizational procedures and exchange views on major global and regional developments in the gas industry./isna
