Israel An Active Threat to Region: Iranian Spokesman
There is a regional consensus that the Zionist regime is the “active and main threat” to the Middle East, Spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Esmaeil Baqaei said, stressing that continued Israeli aggression and occupation have endangered the entire region.
Speaking at his weekly press conference on Monday, Baqaei said there is no doubt among the regional countries that “the main threat comes from the Zionist regime.”
He noted that Iran and the region are “in a real war with the Zionist regime,” pointing to the “widespread genocide in Palestine” and the ongoing occupation of Palestinian and Syrian territories, as well as aggressive Israeli strikes against Yemen and Qatar.
There is a shared understanding across the region that the Zionist regime represents an “active threat,” and that regional states need dialogue and agreements to ensure their security, Baqaei added.
The spokesman described the regional situation as “highly fluid,” saying the Middle East still faces the grave problem of occupation and continued genocide.
He also lashed out at the Israeli regime for the recurrent violations of the ceasefire in Gaza and its ongoing mass killings, noting that since the ceasefire began, over 200 innocent Palestinians have lost their lives.
Baqaei finally emphasized that the guarantors of the Gaza ceasefire bear “a heavy responsibility,” warning that the inaction of the UN Security Council has allowed the Israeli regime’s impunity to continue./tasnim
