Iranian President Urges US, Europe to Take Trust-Building Steps
President of Ian Masoud Pezeshkian called on the US and European countries to demonstrate genuine commitment and sincerity as a means to restore Tehran’s trust.
In a telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday, Pezeshkian reaffirmed that Iran has always been open to dialogue and constructive engagement.
However, he emphasized that it is now the responsibility of Western nations to respect Iran’s legitimate rights and refrain from imposing unilateral demands.
During the discussion, the French leader thanked Iran for its efforts to address obstacles and uphold commitments made in earlier meetings.
Macron highlighted the importance of continuing dialogue and cooperation to enhance transparency, foster mutual trust, and pave the way for a comprehensive agreement that could lead to the lifting of anti-Iran sanctions.
Responding to Macron, President Pezeshkian reiterated Iran’s consistent stance on its nuclear program. He stressed that, guided by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei’s fatwa and the country’s national security doctrine, Iran has no intention of pursuing nuclear weapons. Despite this, he noted, Iran continues to face mounting pressure and sanctions based on what he described as unfounded and politically motivated allegations of nuclear armament.
Pezeshkian underscored that Iran’s principled approach is to resolve disputes through logic, diplomacy, and dialogue rather than coercion or threats, which he said only deepen divisions.
The Iranian president concluded by asserting that the burden of proof lies not with Iran, but with the US and Europe —who must demonstrate their sincerity through concrete actions to rebuild Iran’s trust./tasnim
