Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei condemned the Israeli ground and air incursion into Beit Jinn in southern Syria and the killing of Syrian civilians.

He said nations in the region have an inherent right to defend their sovereignty and territorial integrity against Israeli aggression.

Baqaei said the resistance of Syrian youth against Israeli forces was a natural and legitimate response to the assault.

He cited Israel’s continued violations of international law and the expansion of its criminal actions across the region.

He described the UN Security Council’s inaction over Israeli attacks against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries such as Syria and Lebanon as regrettable.

Baqaei also warned that the situation could have serious implications for global peace and stability.

Syria’s Foreign Ministry earlier denounced the attack on Beit Jinn as a massacre and said Israeli forces turned to indiscriminate shelling after failing to advance on the ground.

Qatar later said the escalation “deepens tensions and undermines efforts to achieve security and stability in the region.”

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry called on the international community to act to halt Israeli violations, protect civilians, and hold those responsible accountable under international law.

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry said it “condemns and denounces the blatant assault” by Israeli forces and accused Israel of seeking “to undermine the security and stability of Syria and its people.”

Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry also condemned the attack and said such “criminal assaults” reflect Israel’s destabilizing conduct that threatens regional security and undermines efforts to de-escalate.

At least 13 Syrians, including five from one family, were killed and more than two dozen others were wounded in the Israeli assault on Beit Jinn in the Damascus suburbs.

The casualties followed a Thursday night attack by Israeli helicopters and drones after Israeli forces entered the town and were surrounded by residents, triggering gunfire and clashes.

After a two-hour confrontation, Israeli troops withdrew from Beit Jinn and repositioned on the Butt al-Warda hill on the town’s outskirts.

Israeli media reported that six Israeli personnel were wounded in the clashes, including three seriously.

Several resistance groups condemned the attack and praised the “heroic ambush” by Beit Jinn residents./tasnim
