Turkish FM to Visit Tehran for Bilateral, Regional Talks
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is scheduled to visit Tehran on Sunday to hold a series of high-level meetings with senior Iranian officials..
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said Fidan will meet with Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and other senior officials.
He added the discussions will cover bilateral relations, regional developments, and international issues.
Turkish diplomatic sources said talks will focus on enhancing the High-Level Cooperation Council and reviewing preparations for its ninth meeting.
They noted both sides aim to deepen security and counterterrorism cooperation.
The officials are also expected to discuss accelerating border trade infrastructure and raising bilateral trade from $6.5 billion to $30 billion.
Fidan will exchange views with Iranian authorities on regional stability, including Gaza, Syria, and Israel’s criminal actions in the region.
Peaceful resolution of Iran’s nuclear program will also be part of the discussions.
The Russia-Ukraine war, South Caucasus developments, and efforts to ease Pakistan-Afghanistan tensions are additional agenda items./tasnim
