Iran’s petchem production capacity to hit 131.5m tons: NPC
The chief executive of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) says production capacity of petrochemical products will reach 131.5 million tons by the end of the country’s 7th Five-Year Socioeconomic and Cultural Development.
CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Hassan Abbaszadeh made the remarks in the first summit of investors of the petrochemical industry, emphasizing that the country’s petchem production capacity will hit 131.5 million tons before the termination of the country’s 7th Five-Year Socioeconomic and Cultural Development Plan by investing $26 billion investment.
Turning to the volume of investment predicted in this plan, the senior official of the company stated that totally $26 billion worth of investment has been considered for materializing objectives of the 7th Development Plan, about $13 billion of which has so far been made.
He put the physical progress of the predicted petrochemical projects at about 60 percent.
Abbaszadeh, who is also the deputy minister of oil, stated that 100 percent of the objectives in the first year of the 7th Development Plan in the petrochemical industry was materialized last year (ended March 20, 2025).
Elsewhere in his remarks, he pointed to the performance of this industry in the current year, noting that petrochemical industry has had the satisfactory performance in the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year (from March 21 to Sep. 22).
Once the petrochemical projects are put into operation by the yearend, it is predicted that production capacity of petrochemicals will increase about seven million tons at large, the NPC chief added./mehr
