Araqchi Sees Economic Diplomacy as Key Foreign Policy Priority
Economic considerations are central to Iran’s foreign policy, the foreign minister said, highlighting his ministry’s active role in advancing economic diplomacy and supporting national economic recovery.
In a meeting of the Iranian entrepreneurs in Tehran, attended by Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, the participants discussed the role and position of the Foreign Ministry in promoting the country’s economic diplomacy.
Araqchi emphasized the importance of economic issues in foreign policy, saying that efforts to lift sanctions and help improve the country’s economy are two major missions of the Foreign Ministry, adding that economic diplomacy has entered an operational phase with this approach.
Referring to the field-oriented approach of the diplomatic apparatus in supporting economic projects, he said the ministry’s presence alongside projects, the resolution of banking, transportation, and legal bottlenecks, and smoothing the path of cooperation with foreign partners are among the main pillars of this approach.
The foreign minister also described the role of entrepreneurs and economic activists as pivotal in strengthening national capacity, noting that by supporting the private sector and facilitating economic interactions, the Foreign Ministry helps make cooperation with foreign partners—especially in the region and with neighboring countries—smoother and more effective./tasnim
