The discussions were held during a telephone conversation between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla on Monday, when they exchanged views on bilateral ties as well as regional and international developments.

The two ministers talked about the existing capacities to broaden relations between Tehran and Havana in areas of mutual interest, and about enhancing coordination within international organizations.

Araqchi condemned the US military aggression against Venezuela, describing it as a clear violation of the UN Charter and the fundamental rules of international law. He emphasized the responsibility of all governments and the United Nations to take a firm and explicit stand against such dangerous lawbreaking.

He also praised the people and government of Cuba for their steadfastness in the face of illegal economic pressures and foreign threats.

Rodriguez, for his part, condemned the illegal and destabilizing actions of the US in the Caribbean and Latin America, particularly the recent unlawful aggression against Venezuela and the abduction of its president and his wife.

He stressed Cuba’s resolve to stand firm against any foreign threat and underscored the need for cooperation and coordination among friendly countries to confront aggressive unilateralism.

The Iranian and Cuban foreign ministers also stressed the necessity of strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation, especially within the framework of the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM)./tasnim
