Iran’s Missile Industry Not Negotiable: Araqchi
Iran’s missile industry will never be subject to negotiations, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated, describing it as a purely defensive matter beyond the scope of any talks.
In an interview with Al Jazeera on the sidelines of the 17th edition of the Al Jazeera Forum in Doha on Saturday, Araqchi referred to the Iran–US talks, held indirectly in Muscat a day earlier, saying the negotiations with Washington had started well, but emphasized that a long path lay ahead to build trust.
The Iranian foreign minister noted that the talks with the US were indirect and were limited solely to the nuclear issue.
He underscored that uranium enrichment was Iran’s indisputable right and must continue, adding that even military bombardment had failed to destroy Iran’s capabilities.
Araqchi stressed that zero-percent enrichment was outside the scope of negotiations.
He further said that Iran’s missile industry had never been and would never be negotiable, as it is a defensive issue./tasnim
