Uranium transfer abroad not on agenda of Oman talks, nuclear chief says

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Mohammad Eslami, has refuted claims that the transfer of enriched uranium out of the country was discussed in recent nuclear talks with the United States in Oman.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Eslami rejected speculations about the removal of enriched uranium from the country.

He emphasized that the issue has not been part of the negotiation agenda between Iran and the United States, noting that while some countries submitted proposals intended to assist the talks, the matter was not addressed during the negotiations in Muscat.

When asked whether the dilution of Iran’s 60-percent enriched uranium had been raised in talks with the US, Eslami said it would depend on whether all sanctions were lifted in return.

Eslami also said that Iran’s relations with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) continue, adding that the Agency has an outstanding obligation regarding the military attack on safeguarded facilities in June 2025.

He noted that if Iran operates under IAEA supervision, holds Agency certification, and is part of its credibility framework, the IAEA cannot remain silent about such attacks.

Regarding facilities that were not targeted in the Israeli and US strikes in June, Eslami said IAEA inspectors have conducted visits under continued cooperation and with authorization from Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. Inspections of undamaged sites have taken place since the attacks, and visits to other facilities are scheduled in the coming days.

He stressed that Iran’s rights under IAEA regulations must be upheld, noting that the Agency is responsible for encouraging and supporting the peaceful use of nuclear technology in Iran. /irna
