Iran Urges EU to Reconsider Unconstructive Approach
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi called on the European Union to seriously reconsider its unconstructive policies toward Tehran, criticizing the misguided approaches and inappropriate interference in Iran’s internal affairs.
In a telephone conversation on Friday with Constantinos Kombos, the foreign minister of Cyprus—whose country currently holds the rotating presidency of the European Union—Araqchi conveyed Iran’s objections to recent positions adopted by the bloc.
He criticized the European Union’s inappropriate approaches toward Iran, particularly the recent offensive action by the Council of Ministers of the bloc in labeling part of Iran’s Armed Forces and engaging in unwarranted interference in Iran’s internal affairs.
Araqchi also described the EU’s incorrect positions regarding regional developments—including the genocide in Gaza and the crimes of the Zionist regime against countries in the region—as contrary to the principle of the rule of law and respect for the principles and rules of international law.
The Iranian foreign minister called for a serious reconsideration by the European Union of its unconstructive approaches.
Araqchi also briefed Kombos on the latest developments related to the Iran–US nuclear negotiations.
For his part, the Cypriot foreign minister welcomed the start of a new round of nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States, underscored the importance of continuing the talks and reducing tensions, and expressed Cyprus’s readiness to provide any assistance in this process./tasnim
