Pezeshkian Hails Growing Iran-Russia Ties
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian described Tehran-Moscow relations in the new phase of cooperation as highly distinguished and expanding, reaffirming Iran’s determination to implement the comprehensive strategic cooperation plan with Russia.
In a meeting with Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev, held in Tehran on Wednesday, Pezeshkian expressed satisfaction with the acceleration of bilateral interactions with Russia.
He emphasized Iran’s serious resolve to implement the comprehensive strategic cooperation program between the two countries, stating that Tehran is determined to operationalize the document with strength, speed, and precision.
Pezeshkian added that in all areas—including transportation, energy, oil and gas, agriculture and food products, as well as defense and security cooperation—the implementation process is being pursued at a desirable pace.
The president described the completion of joint projects, particularly in the field of transit corridors, as paving the way for opening a new chapter and achieving a leap in comprehensive bilateral relations.
Referring to unilateral approaches by certain powers, Pezeshkian stressed that regional countries should expand their relations in such a way that there would be no need for extra-regional actors to intervene in determining the affairs of the region.
For his part, Tsivilev conveyed warm greetings from the Russian president to Pezeshkian and presented a report on the 19th Joint Economic Cooperation Commission between the two countries, describing its results as positive and fruitful.
He said the past year had been productive in Tehran-Moscow relations, noting that the most important achievement of this period has been the consolidation of friendly ties and the expansion of joint cooperation.
The Russian energy minister also expressed the deep sympathy of the Russian government and people with the Iranian government and nation following recent incidents and the deaths of a number of Iranian citizens.
Moscow is confident the incidents were orchestrated by opponents, Tsivilev said, adding that Russia will continue its extensive cooperation and relations with Iran and declared that no one will be able to undermine the strategic relations between the two countries./tasnim
