IKIA flight operations rise as 13 Iranian airlines serve 20 global destinations

Flight operations at Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKIA) are seeing a steady increase, with 13 domestic airlines now operating routes to more than 20 international destinations.

Speaking to ISNA regarding the latest operational status of the airport, Ahoura Mohammadi, Director of Public Relations at IKIA, stated: "Currently, over 20 flight destinations are active from this airport. The highest frequency of flights is dedicated to Istanbul, Muscat, Najaf, Medina, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Baghdad, and Beijing."

He noted that 13 Iranian carriers are facilitating these trips, with Mahan Air, Iran Air, Meraj, Iran Airtour, Sepehran, and Caspian leading the volume of operations.

"Operations are proceeding normally, with 35 to 40 inbound and outbound flights recorded daily at Imam Khomeini Airport City," Mohammadi said, adding that the flight frequency is on an upward trajectory.

According to the official, the number of destinations is expanding based on strategic planning. Current active routes include Guangzhou, Beijing, Yerevan, Moscow, Erbil, Kabul, Ankara, Bangkok, and Baku.
