Qatar Praised for Mediation Efforts at Regional Calm
President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran is prepared to move forward within a “dignified framework” to help end the ongoing war and reduce tensions in the region, praising Qatar’s mediation efforts during a phone call with Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The talks took place on Tuesday as the two officials exchanged greetings on the occasion of Eid al-Adha and discussed recent regional developments and diplomatic efforts aimed at restoring stability.
President Pezeshkian expressed appreciation for Qatar’s constructive role in regional diplomacy and thanked the Qatari emir for his personal efforts to facilitate negotiations and advance peace initiatives.
He said the Islamic Republic remains committed to diplomacy and adherence to international agreements, adding that Iran has demonstrated its seriousness and goodwill in pursuing dialogue and political solutions.
The Iranian president stressed that the other parties involved must now show genuine political determination by honoring their international commitments both in rhetoric and in practice.
Pezeshkian also referred to ongoing technical-level negotiations, saying expert discussions are continuing to finalize documents and frameworks intended to support a broader path toward regional stability and de-escalation.
He further thanked the Qatari emir for his efforts toward achieving a comprehensive and fair agreement.
For his part, Sheikh Tamim reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to supporting regional security and stability and said Doha would continue its diplomatic efforts to help resolve ongoing conflicts in the region.
The Qatari emir also reiterated his country’s readiness to continue playing a mediating role aimed at reducing tensions and promoting peace./tasnim
