IRGC: Two dozen ships safely pass through Strait of Hormuz in 24 hours
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has announced that two dozen ships safely passed through the Strait of Hormuz in 24 hours in coordination with the IRGC Naval Force.
The IRGC made the announcement in a statement published by IRNA on Friday afternoon, Tehran time.
According to the statement, 24 commercial vessels, including oil tankers and container ships, transited the Strait of Hormuz during the past 24 hours after receiving the necessary authorization and under the security protection of the IRGC Naval Force.
The statement added that the IRGC continues to maintain vigilant control over the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that any act of aggression would be met with a decisive response.
The IRGC has maintained control over the strategic waterway since early March, several days after the United States and Israel launched their war of aggression against Iran on February 28, as part of the country’s self-defense measures.
The measures have resulted in restrictions on ship passage through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway through which nearly 20 percent of global oil and gas supplies pass.
Iran says its adversaries have threatened the country’s national security through the security of Hormuz. Iran and Oman, as the two coastal states bordering the Strait of Hormuz, are currently working on regulations aimed at ensuring the security of the waterway and the safety of navigation.
Over the past two weeks, dozens of vessels have safely passed through the Strait of Hormuz in coordination with the IRGC./irna
