US Truce Violations Add to Mistrust, Justify Response: Iran
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said repeated US violations of the April 8 ceasefire and attacks on southern regions of Iran have deepened Tehran’s distrust of Washington, adding that these violations entitle Iran to respond under international law.
In comments at a weekly press conference on Monday, Baqaei said the recent incidents demonstrated the US’ bad faith.
“These ceasefire violations themselves are indicative of the United States’ misconduct and only intensify the existing distrust, which is fully justified,” he said.
The spokesman stressed that the US actions went beyond breaching a ceasefire agreement.
“These actions by the US are not merely violations of the ceasefire; they are acts of aggression, and they entitle us to respond,” Baqaei stated.
Asked about the possibility of renewed military confrontation, Baqaei said Iran has prepared for various scenarios and that the measures adopted by the country would become evident in practice.
“We must be prepared for any eventuality. We are in a region that requires readiness for every possibility, and our Armed Forces certainly possess the necessary preparedness,” the spokesman added./tasnim
