Iranian and Saudi FMs discuss developments related to MoU on ending war with US
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, have discuss the latest developments in the memorandum of understanding (MoU) reached between Tehran and Washington on ending the war.
Over the phone with Faisal bin Farhan on Monday, Araghchi commended Saudi Arabia’s role in in the ongoing diplomatic process aimed at ending the US-Israeli imposed war on Iran and strengthening regional stability and security.
Informing the content of the agreement to the Saudi counterpart, the top Iranian diplomat also referred to the responsibility of the United States for the proper implementation of the clauses of the MoU, including the complete end to the Israeli aggression against Lebanon.
Both Araghchi and Faisal bin Farhan also emphasized the need for continuation of close consultations and diplomatic cooperation between Tehran and Riyadh regarding regional developments, as well as efforts to establish peace in the region.
Tehran and Washington announced on Sunday night that they have finalized the text of an MoU on ending the war, under a process that was launched after a Pakistan-mediated ceasefire in April.
The MoU that is scheduled to be signed officially on Friday in Switzerland brings an immediate and permanent halt to military aggression on all fronts, including Lebanon, and terminates the US naval blockade./irna
