President Hails Historic Funeral of Martyred Leader as Symbol of National Unity
Iran’s president praised the massive turnout at the funeral of martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, thanking the Iranian nation, the Iraqi government and people, and supporters across the Muslim world for an unprecedented display of solidarity.
In a message released on Thursday, President Masoud Pezeshkian said the millions who attended the funeral and burial ceremonies in Tehran, Qom, Mashhad, Najaf, and Karbala demonstrated the enduring bond between the Iranian nation and the ideals of the Islamic Revolution. He said the gatherings were not merely funeral ceremonies but a renewed pledge to uphold the values of dignity, independence, justice, and national progress.
The president extended special appreciation to the government and people of Iraq, describing their role in hosting the ceremonies in Najaf and Karbala as a manifestation of strategic brotherhood between the two neighboring nations. He thanked Iraqi officials, tribal leaders, custodians of the holy shrines, and thousands of volunteers for mobilizing all available resources to ensure the dignified conduct of the ceremonies.
Pezeshkian said the participation of millions of mourners—many of whom traveled long distances and waited for hours to bid farewell to the martyred Leader—showcased the unity of Muslim nations and highlighted the strength of national and Islamic solidarity before the world.
The president also expressed gratitude to foreign officials, religious authorities, political figures, and international organizations that sent condolences or took part in the ceremonies, saying the widespread international response reflected the late Leader's profound spiritual influence and enduring popularity, which could serve as a valuable foundation for expanding future humanitarian and cultural cooperation.
He further commended the Armed Forces, security agencies, emergency responders, municipal workers, and media organizations for their tireless efforts in maintaining order and ensuring the safe and smooth conduct of the large-scale ceremonies.
Concluding his message, Pezeshkian said the overwhelming public participation places an even greater responsibility on the government to serve the Iranian people with sincerity, efficiency, and dedication while remaining committed to the path of the martyred Leader. He also wished Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei continued health and success./tasnim
