Polio in phase of 'complete eradication' in Iran

The Head of Health Ministry's Center for Disease Control, Mohammad-Mehdi Gouya said here on Monday that for the past 16 years no case of polio has been traced across the country.
Gouya reiterated that polio has not been completely eradicated in Iran since the disease is still alive in two neighboring eastern countries.
Thanks to implementation of vaccination program, he said, polio has been completely eradicated in many countries.
In order to completely eradicate the disease, all Iranians and legal or illegal immigrants could receive the polio vaccine free of charge, IRNA quoted him as saying.
