Chabahar port to be commercially exploited in less than 2 years

EghtesadOnline: Indian Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shipping Radhakrishnan P. announced that Chabahar port will have been commercially exploited by one year and a half later.

Iranian, Indian and Afghan senior officials signed Chabahar's agreement on May 23 in Tehran, according to IRNA.

The mentioned agreement was inked in the presence of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani.

Speaking in the signing ceremony of the agreement, Rouhani said that as a transit corridor among south-east and north-south, Chabahar port is capable of being change into a connecting point among different countries like India to Afghanistan, Central Asian Countries, Caucasus and Eastern Europe. 

Speaking in a visit with his Iranian counterpart Bijan Zangeneh, Indian Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri Dharmendra Pradhan expressed India's readiness in having a $20b-investment In Chabahar port. 

The port of Chabahar is located on the Makran coast of Sistan and Baluchistan Province, next to the Gulf of Oman and at the mouth of Strait of Hormuz. It is the only Iranian port with direct access to the Indian Ocean.
