Minister: Iran air fleet to undergo great changes

EghtesadOnline: Minister of Road and Urban Development Abbas Akhoundi said on Thursday that by purchasing modern airplanes, Iran is going to give a significant boost to its air fleet.

'At the present time, there are only 12 airplanes in the country built after 2000,' Akhoundi said, expressing hope that Iran could make great investments to renovate its air fleet.

Before the new government took power three years ago, only 500 international flights used the Iranian air space, while the figure has now increased to 1050, IRNA quoted him as saying.

This is largely because of the existing security in the country amid much unrest and instability in the region, he added.
