Vice-President: JCPOA provides suitable opportunity for tourism
EghtesadOnline: Vice-President and head of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization Masoud Soltanifar said on Saturday that the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action has provided a suitable opportunity for development of tourism industry in Iran.
According to IRNA, he made the remarks in a meeting with Governor of the Central Bank of Iran and other bankers.
Soltanifar said tourism industry is a highly profitable business.
He said that tourism industry is a main factor for revival of national economies worldwide.
Soltanifar said that tourism is one of the most important grounds to create jobs and stem poverty and earn revenues to spend on protection of the environment.
Government of Hope and Prudence seriously aims to use the opportunities and since the government has taken office, five major cultural heritage and natural sites of Iran have been registered by the UNESCO.
He said that in general, 21 Iranian world heritages are put in the world heritage list.
The Vice-President said Iran is the destination for the Muslim tourists and pilgrims.
Existence of thousands of holy religious sites has made Iran a religious tourism hub and more than half the tourists pay pilgrimage to the sites, according to Soltanifar.
He said that part of the tourists come to Iran for medical treatment, because medical treatment in Iran is inexpensive compared to other countries.
