15,000 square meters of carpet woven annually in Iran
EghtesadOnline: Some 15,000 square meters of hand-woven carpet are produced in Iran annually, managing director of Iran Joint Stock Carpet Company Mohammad Reza Abed said on Sunday.
He made thwe remarks in a meeting with the head of Kohgiluyeh-Boyer Ahmad Industry, Mines and Trade Organization.
Mohammad Reza Abed said that Iran Joint Stock Carpet Company with a history of 80 years is operating nationwide with 24 branches. Some 8,000 carpet weavers are cooperating with the company.
He further noted that major portion of domestically-woven carpets are sold inside the country and the surplus is exported.
Head of Kohgilouyeh-Boyer Ahmad Industry, Mines and Trade Organization Seyyed Naeim Emami, for his part, said that some 104 carpet weavers are active across the country.
Carpets woven in the province are known across the world for their durability, designs, stable color and suitable prices, he said.
According to him, some 100,000 square meters of carpet are woven across the province each year.
