Iranian volleyball team beats Cuba's team in Rio Olympics
EghtesadOnline: Iranian volleyball team won its match against Cuba in its third competition of this kind.
The third day of men's volleyball competitions started in Rio on Thursday morning.
Six competitions are slated to be held in the city of Rio on Thursday.
The Iranian national team beat Cuba team 25-21, 31-29 and 25-16 to experiences its fist victory in Rio competitions, according to IRNA.
Shahram Mahmoudi led Iran with 16 points, while Seyed Mohammad Mousavi and Milad Ebadipour added 11 and 8, respectively. For Cuba, Miguel Angel Lopez Castro scored 15 points, followed by Osniel Lazaro Melgarejo Hernandez with 13.
Earlier, Argentina trounced Iran 3-0 in their first game of the tournament while Poland and Iran played a dramatic five-setter match in which the world champion managed to defeat Raul Lozano's men 3-2.
The volleyball tournaments at the Rio 2016 Rio Olympic Games started on August 6, and will finish on August 21. Iran is pitted against Argentina, Cuba, Egypt, Poland and Russia in Pool B. Brazil, Canada, France, Italy, Mexico and the United States have been drawn in Pool A.
It is for the seventh time that Cuba volleyball team is present in Olympic Games.
Cuba Volleyball team had won bronze medal in 1976 Montreal Olympic Games.
