Claims of lawmaker rejected by spokesman as 'baseless', 'lies'
EghtesadOnline: Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi dismissed claims by lawmaker Karimi Qoddousi that a member of the delegation accompanying Foreign Minister to Turkey in his latest trip has been arrested.
He said the claim that was published in a number of Iranian press was 'baseless, irrelevant, a pure lie and wrong quotation', according to IRNA.
He said Mr Qoddousi who represents the holy city of Mashhad in the parliament should not have allowed himself to make such a hasty and baseless remark about a simple political visit without further investigation.
He said the real motivation behind such remarks was evident.
The spokesman said his ministry was not keen to forsake national interests for the benefits of certain political games and stressed that a very small number of people should not dare play with national interests to get to their own objectives.
