House of Cinema Celebrates National Day

EghtesadOnline: The 17th celebration of House of Cinema was held in Tehran on September 12, awarding the best in Iranian cinema in the past year.
The bitter social drama ‘Life+1 Day’ by first timer Saeed Roustaei was the absolute winner of the night with seven awards, ISNA reported.
It was the second time the movie won major awards at a national event. It won nine Crystal Simorgh awards at the 34th Fajr Film Festival earlier in February and is among the bestsellers of Iran cinema this year.
Roustaei won the best director and best script award for his film. The movie also won awards for the best actor Peyman Moaadi, best supporting actor Navid Mohammadzadeh, best costume design by Ghazaleh Motamed, best sound mixing by Amin Mirshekari and best editing by Bahram Dehghani.
The other big winner of the event was another first timer ‘Standing in the Dust’ directed by Mohammad Hussein Mahdavian that won three awards. A movie on the life of Ahmad Motevaselian, Iranian commander in the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war, it has been welcomed by the public and critics. It also features real footage of Motevaselian on the battlefronts.
Produced by Habib Valinejad, the movie was selected as the best film. The awards for the best make-up design went to Shahram Khalaj and the best especial visual effects to Iman Karamian.
‘Bodyguard’ the latest work by the veteran filmmaker Ebrahim Hatamikia picked two prizes. The best score award was given to Karen Homayounfar and the award for the best special field effects went to Hadi Eslami.
'Binam Alley' won the major awards for actresses. The best actress award was presented to Baran Kosari and Fereshteh Sadre Orafaiy won the best supporting actress award.
'A Dragon Arrives' also won two awards, one for the best set design by Amirhossein Qodsi and another for the best cinematography by Houman Behmanesh.
The award for the best sound editing was presented to Arash Qasemi for the film ‘The Sound and the Fury’.
In the ceremony which was held in the presence of cineastes, cultural officials and all the nominees, secretary of the event, Kamal Tabrizi, said that a jury of 451 members evaluated the films and chose the best in each category, according to Financial Tribune.
September 12 is observed as National Day of Cinema annually and the House of Cinema awards the best of movies and cineastes.
