Moulavi Abdol-Hamid Ismail-Zahi said in the Friday prayer sermon held at the Maki Sunni Mosque in the Southeastern Iranian provincial capital that remarks made by Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on the need for unity among the Shia and Sunni Muslims caused a great repercussion both across Iran and in other countries, reports IRNA.

The remarks by the Supreme Leader made everybody delighted, Ismail-Zahi said.

'The Supreme Leader said that do not incite emotions of the Sunni community, recalled the Sunni Friday prayers leader.

'We as Sunnis are of the same belief,' he said, 'That we should not incite members of other Muslim sects including the Shia Muslims.'

Moulavi Abdol-Hamid Ismail-Zahi praised the unity, brotherhood and moderation in the Islamic Republic.

'We all know that today the enemies of Islam are trying to create division among Muslim countries and especially among Sunni and Shia Muslims,' he said.

'But they have not been successful to achieve this end in Iran.'
