Iran in talks to purchase Embraer planes from Brazil
EghtesadOnline: Iran has started official negotiations with Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer for plane purchase, Asghar Fakhrieh Kashan, Iran’s deputy minister of Roads and Urban Development, said.
Last week a delegation from the Brazilian company visited Tehran to talk with Iranian airlines, Fakhrieh Kashan said.
During the three-day stay in Tehran, the Embraer representatives held negotiations with all of Iranian airline companies, the official said, adding that technical and financial issues were discussed at the meetings, reports ILNA.
The visit’s one day also allocated to flight training, the Iranian deputy minister said.
He further said that one of the Embraer aircrafts launched two test flights over the Caspian Sea and Damavand mountain.
Earlier in March 2016, Iranian Zagros Airlines said that has reached preliminary agreements with Embraer to import 20 airplanes.
It is scheduled that representatives from leading aircraft manufacturers, Boeing and Airbus to visit Iran next week to discuss the sale and purchase of planes, following a permission which was issued by the US Treasury Department.
Boeing announced on Sept. 21 that the US Treasury had issued the required authorization to the company to sell 80 planes from a total package of 109 planes to the Islamic Republic.
The Boeing deal is estimated to be worth $25 billion.
Iran also will buy 111 planes from Airbus worth below $10 billion and a financer would make nearly all the payments relating to the purchase.
