Majlis supports further ties with Austria: Senior lawmaker

EghtesadOnline: A senior lawmaker said parliamentary relations between the world countries are important to facilitate bilateral ties, stressing that Iran's Majlis (Parliament) supports expansion of parliamentary cooperation with Austria.
Tehran-Vienna parliamentary relations will play an important role in deepening of friendly ties in other fields, Majlis Vice-Speaker Massoud Pezeshkian said in a meeting with Karlheinz Kopf, the visiting Second President of the Austrian National Council.
There are different tourism, industrial and economic grounds that the two countries can use to strengthen bilateral cooperation, Pezeshkian said.
Also, he said, exchange of parliamentary and political delegations between the two countries' officials would play a leading role in reaching mutual understanding to expand cooperation.
On the regional developments, the Iranian lawmaker said the foreign powers by meddling in the internal affairs of the regional countries have created the current situation in the region, reports IRNA.
Pezeshkian further stressed that cooperation between all countries is the only solution to bring tranquility back to the region.
For his part, the Austrian official described dialogue and political talks as the only way to establish stability in the region.
Kopf further described Iran as a modern and stabilized country in the region of Middle East which is full of tension these days.
Expressing satisfaction over his travel to Tehran, he said Iran has special position in the eyes of Austria and other European countries.
Kopf, in addition, said the two countries' parliaments can remove obstacles in the way of bilateral relations.
He, at the end, called for further Vienna-Tehran talks and cooperation in the international and regional questions.
