Rouhani: Weapons, diplomacy incapable of solving insecurity

Addressing the 22nd International Press Exhibition that he officially opened here on Saturday, President Rouhani stressed the importance of unity and solidarity among different tribes and religions that could be materialized through work of media and press, reports IRNA.

We do need deterrent and powerful armed forces, military might and strong diplomacy, but at the same time we should remember that the today's insecurity in our region could not be solved only by weapon and diplomacy, Rouhani said.

'At present, we are in the new conditions,' said the Iranian President adding '…, we have to make use of the conditions being created in the post-sanctions and post-JCPOA era.'

In the new conditions, 'we should stimulate the country,' Rouhani stressed.

The event which opened here Friday evening hosts over 900 press organizations in 620 pavilions.

This year's press event focuses on 'transparency and honesty' as its motto.

Several briefing sessions by foreign journalists, numerous workshops and expert meetings on up-to-dated journalism are to be held at the sideline of the event.

In the meantime, four photo exhibitions will be held on the sidelines of the international 
press exhibit including Iran-South Korea joint photo exhibition organized by Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
