Seeking expansion of ties, Zarif plans to head Lebanon

EghtesadOnline: Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will head to Lebanon next week aiming to improve mutual ties.
Foreign ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi has announced earlier that Mohammad Javad Zarif would go to Lebanon to visit the newly elected president.
Referring to the objective of the trip, Qasemi stated that Lebanon plays significant role in the region’s peace and stability, and that mutual negotiations would be crucial in this regard.
According to ISNA, Zarif is planning to meet with Lebanese high-ranking officials to discuss ways to bolster cooperation on politics, economy, and culture as well as the recent developments in Syria and the region.
Michel Aoun was elected after four rounds of voting during the session. He secured the presidency by winning the support of 83 out of 127 MPs, well above the absolute majority of 65 needed to win.
