Iran's sovereignty over Persian Gulf islands non-negotiable

EghtesadOnline: Iran's representative in the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) Ali Kazemi said that Tehran is ready for talks to remove misunderstandings but its sovereignty over the Persian Gulf Islands of Abu Mussa, Greater and Lesser Tunbs is non-negotiable.
Majlis delegation participating in the Ninth Meeting of General Assembly of Asian Parliaments dismissed empty claims of UAE lawmaker.
According to IRNA, Kazemi who is taking part in the Ninth Meeting of Asian Parliaments General Assembly in Cambodia rejected UAE representative's claims over Iranian Persian Gulf islands as empty, saying that such claims are unjustifiable and baseless.
Such claims are against international regulations and UN Charter as well as principles of good neighborliness, he said, reaffirming Iran's sovereignty over the Islands of Abu Musa and Lesser and Greater Tunbs.
Based on its principled policies aimed at ensuring security and stability in the Persian Gulf, Iran has undertaken extensive measures to promote confidence-building in the region, he said.
'We have voiced our readiness for bilateral talks with the UAE to remove misunderstandings, but it is clear that territorial integrity and sovereignty over the islands are non-negotiable,' he said.
