President: Iran welcomes development of ties with EU

EghtesadOnline: President Hassan Rouhani said on Saturday that Iran welcomes development of cooperation with the European Union including Romania.

He made the remarks in a meeting with the newly-appointed Romanian Ambassador to Iran Adrian Kozjacski.

Iran and Romania have lots of capacities for boost of joint cooperation and they should use these opportunities, the President added.

According to IRNA, he referred to Iran's development transit plans in particular the railway and said Romania can play the role of a gate for Iran to enter Europe through the Black Sea.

Iran can facilitate Romania's access to the Asian and Middle Eastern markets, Rouhani said. 

He added that development of bilateral cooperation between Iran and Romania in fields of industry, energy and agriculture is necessary.

President Rouhani pointed to the upcoming meeting of Iran-Romania joint economic commission in Bucharest and said Iran and Romania private sectors have large capacities for joint cooperation and they can play a role in boosting the two countries' cooperation.

He referred to the key agreements signed between Iran and the European countries and said Romania can exploit the post-JCPOA opportunities by boosting insurance and banking cooperation with Iran.

There is no obstacle on the way of boosting Tehran-Bucharest cooperation, the official added.

He said it is necessary that Iran and Romania develop relations in not only the political and economic fields but also in the cultural, scientific, research and academic ones.

During the meeting, the Romanian envoy submitted his credentials to Iranian president and said Bucharest is committed to promote relations with Iran in all fields.

Iran and Romania enjoy lots of potentials for deepening cooperation and relations which should be used, he noted.

The official called for boost of cultural, scientific and academic cooperation between Iran and Romania and voiced hope for promotion of cooperation between the two states.
