Rouhani suggests trying to be a powerful region not a powerful country

“Instead of trying to be first power in the region we should make collective effort to have a more powerful region,” Rouhani said at the "International Conference on Combating Sand and Dust Storms: Challenges and Practical Solutions" that was held on Monday in Tehran, according to ISNA.

On terrorism in the region, he said: "Terrorism is a contagious virus in the region, the idea of using terrorism as a tool is a big mistake".

“Today, the era of putting up walls is over,” added the President, saying: "If parvenu leaders of some countries are thinking about putting up walls, they must know that today, is the era of joining hands, not cutting off arms. Instead of cutting off arms, we must join hands in respecting other nations' rights".

"We must preserve the rights of our people by respecting others' rights and if the USA and Saudi Arabia are pursuing their own interests, they are mistaken".

"Of course, I do not name the Zionist Regime in this regard because its entire existence is based on mistake, error, occupation and aggression," the president added.

Rouhani also said: "We have no solution other than a win-win policy to resolve the issues of the region".

Moreover, Iranian President said on Sunday during a speech at a conference organized on the occasion of Judiciary Week that to be revolutionary means to “isolate” the U.S. and talk to the world in a way that “our words are understood and accepted”.

The U.S. should not get a free hand and become powerful, Rouhani said.

“We are not supposed to help enemy. Enemy seeks to prevent the Middle East region from having peace, stability and development, and also wants the region to always be in a war to sell weapons and have the excuse to interfere,” the president noted. 

He said that Iran should adopt foreign policies that if the U.S. seeks to stand against Iran, other countries such as European ones, China and Russia will not stand beside Washington.
