Iran Foreign Ministry Offers to Help Address Climate Issues
EghtesadOnline: Iran’s Foreign Ministry is ready to offer diplomatic aid to help efforts aimed at controlling climate change and addressing its security, economic and social impacts, a top Iranian diplomat said.
"Measures against climate change and its impacts cannot be implemented without the collaboration of other countries … In areas such as dust storms and management of extraterritorial waters, issues cannot be solved without regional cooperation " Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said during a meeting with members of the presiding board of the Sixth International-Regional Conference on Climate Change slated for 18-19 November in Tehran.
He added that areas of dispute between countries over such issues can become a subject of cooperation, IRNA reported.
Araqchi also suggested that the climate conference be focused on the need to control drought, manage water resources and improve compatibility and tolerance at the level of people and decision-makers, according to Financial Tribune.
