Planting Saplings Crucial to Preserving Environment
The poisoning of students in schools is a big and unforgivable crime whose perpetrators must receive the most severe punishment, the Leader said.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei stressed the importance of planting saplings in the preservation of the environment.
He made the remarks on the occasion of National Tree Planting Day and the beginning of Natural Resources Week after planting three saplings in Tehran on Monday, Leader.ir reported.
The Leader highlighted this year’s motto of “Each Iranian Three Saplings” as the reason for planting three young trees.
“If, based on this slogan, each Iranian plants three saplings, the government’s plan for a target of one billion saplings will be realized in four years beginning from the upcoming calendar year,” he said, adding that this goal would be attainable with the help of the people.
Citing experts’ advice, he called for planting forest trees and those whose wood is of value alongside fruit trees, underling the significant effect of wood trade on the country’s economy.
“The outcome of single-product economy is the current situation of the country in terms of inflation and value of the national currency,” he said.
Ayatollah Khamenei said instructions for preservation of the environment are one of the considerable advantages of the Islamic Republic’s Constitution, emphasizing that “no one should violate this law.”
The Leader later pointed to the suspicious incidents of students’ poisoning in schools, describing it as a “big and unforgivable crime” whose perpetrators must receive the most severe punishment.
This is a crime against the most innocent members of society, the children, which has caused families worry and fostered a sense of psychological insecurity among the people, according to Ayatollah Khamenei.
“Every one should know that if people are identified and found guilty of this crime, there will be no amnesty for them because they must be severely punished to be a lesson for others,” he said.
Ayatollah Khamenei urged the authorities and intelligence and law enforcement bodies to seriously pursue the issue.
