Shamkhani: Iran, India economy able to create new economic opportunities

He made the remarks in a meeting with Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval in New Delhi, reports ISNA.

During the meeting, Shamkhani referred to dangerous effects of extremism and Takfiri terrorism on regional security, and said, “Simultaneous confrontation against terrorist groups as well as countries which have turned them into tools to impose their political will through ideological, weapons and financial support is the common responsibility of the international community for protecting peace and stability.

He also called for more efforts to settle certain historic and cultural problems among regional states to pave the way for social, economic and cultural progress of the region.

Shamkhani said that economy of Iran and India can complete one another and create new economic development opportunities in the region through playing more active role by countries interested in cooperation.

He said that activating vast potential of Chabahar Port, southern Iran, is a symbol of constructive economic cooperation among all countries keen to invest in the region.

Ajit Doval, for his part, said his country welcomes boosting strategic dialogue among Iran, China and India on political, security and economic issues.

He also stressed reviving a committee for joint defense cooperation between Iran and India for starting new talks in this field.
