Iran condoles death of Iranian cyclist during 2016 Rio Paralympics

EghtesadOnline: Iranian officials issued separate messages on Sunday to condole the death of an Iranian cyclist in the course of Rio Paralympics 2016.

Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said in a statement that the name of Bahman Golbarnejad will remain forever in the hearts of Iranians, reports IRNA. 

He said that Golbarnejad, who was a war veteran of the 1980-1988 Iraqi imposed war on Iran, made every effort to bring about pride for his country. 

First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri expressed condolence on his Instagram page to Iranian sports community and the family of the late Bahman Golbarnejad. 

In another message, Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi condoled the demise of the Iranian para-cyclist, saying Iran's embassy in Brasilia would make the necessary works for taking home of the body of Bahman Golbarnejad. 

Golbarnejad fell down and hurt his neck while Rio cycling competitions on Saturday. After being sent to a hospital, he suffered heart attack and passed away.
