World views on NCCP holding in Iran positive
EghtesadOnline: A Centenary Institute researcher says Nastaran Center for Cancer prevention (NCCP) - which is based in Mashhad, Iran-, plays a prominent role in informing people to change their lifestyle in order to prevent cancer.
Dr. Ulf Schmitz, Conjoint Senior Lecturer at Sydney University and Research Officer at Centenary Institute Cancer Medicine & Cell Biology in Sydney, Australia was invited to present his amazing lecture in the 2nd International Nastaran Cancer Symposium which was held in 28-29th September of 2016, according to ISNA.
Schmitz got his Ph.D. in Bioinformatics from University of Rostock, Germany and He is designing integrative workflows combining various computational disciplines with experimentation to approach molecular biological and medical problems.
These workflows are implemented and applied to identify and study molecular interactions, functional mechanisms of gene-regulation, cell signaling pathways and gene regulatory networks for the goal of getting deeper insights into disease emergence and progression with a focus on different cancer entities.
“I am really impressed by the professionalism of this symposium, also it is well scheduled and its scientific level is very high” Schmitz told in an exclusive interview with ISNA.
The German scientist explained that there are many governmental programs and places which aimed to inform public about risk factors to prevent getting cancer and to go to cancer screen for the early diagnosis for certain type of cancers associate to man and woman after certain age.
“I enjoyed presentation today especially international guests doing amazing work and I learned a lot” he added.
“What I presented in this symposium it’s the work that I conducted in centenary institute and I am investigating a recently discovered novel form of gene regulation which may have implication for cancer emergence and progression and it’s the form of splicing which has not been widely investigated in the past but it’s now gaining more and more attention because it seems to play an important role in gene regulation and when this is going wrong and can have several downstream it’s a trim effects and cause diseases like cancer” he told about his presentation.
