Iran, Brazil stress enhancing human rights cooperation
EghtesadOnline: Secretary of Iran’s Human Rights Council Mohammad Javad Larijani and Brazilian Deputy Foreign Minister Marcus Galvan in a meeting on Monday called for mutual cooperation on human rights issues.
“That the West calls Iran as violator of human rights, but not take any stance on the human rights conditions in other countries, including some regional states, is a double-standard and unacceptable,” Larijani said during the meeting.
He underlined that human rights is not a western commodity or gift; it come out of a society and emerge through cultural, religious and ideological principles of each country, reports IRNA.
Galvan, for his part, pointed to the status quo of Tehran-Brasilia relations, and said, “The Brazilian government highly prioritizes broadening of its relations with Iran.”
