President: Ties with Vietnam tops Iran's Foreign Policy
EghtesadOnline: Visiting Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Thursday that forging closer ties with Vietnam is among top priorities in Iran’s Foreign Policy.
President Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with the two countries' high-ranking delegations, attended by his Vietnamese counterpart Tran Dai Quang in Hanoi.
According to IRNA, President Rouhani also pointed to the growing trend of relations between Tehran and Hanoi over the past few years and said Tehran is ready to expand relations with Hanoi in the fields of energy, new technologies, medicine, agriculture and fisheries as well as the construction of refineries and petrochemical complexes.
Commenting on Iran's progress in the fields of road construction, steel production, construction materials, building power plants, power and water transmission lines, President Rouhani voiced Tehran's readiness to share its experiences with Hanoi in technical and engineering activities.
The Iranian president also voiced Tehran willingness to cooperate with Hanoi in the agricultural arenas, trans-territorial farming in particular.
President Rouhani added that Iran is ready to hold the ninth meeting of the Iran-Vietnam joint economic commission in Tehran in the near future.
Touching upon the two countries' close relations and their enormous tourist attractions, President Rouhani called for expansion of mutual cooperation in the field of tourism.
He added that Iran is keen to enhance bilateral relations between the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Commenting on the amicable parliamentary relations between the two countries, he added Iran welcomes expansion of relations between Inter-Parliamentary Union and Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA).
The Vietnamese president, for his part, said Hanoi is completely determined to expand its all-out ties with Tehran.
President Tran Dai Quang also voiced his satisfaction over the President Rouhani visit to Vietnam.
Thanks to the two countries vast untapped potentials and capabilities, he expressed hope that the level of annual mutual trade transactions could hit two billion.
Hailing reinforcement of mutual relations in the fields of science, technology, education, health, fisheries and energy, the Vietnamese president added the private sectors of the two countries could play a pivotal role to meet that end.
He added the Vietnamese and Iranian governments and nations are fully determined to expand relations in all arenas, anticipating that the two sides would witness the implementation of all agreements inked between the two countries in near future.
