Iran, Indonesia, China call for protection of intangible cultural heritage
EghtesadOnline: Representatives of Iran, China and Indonesia on Thursday called for maintenance of intangible cultural heritage and adopt necessary strategies in this regard.
They made the remarks on the sidelines of ministerial meeting of World Culture Forum (WCF) in Bali, Indonesia.
Head of International Center for Qanats (subterranean canal) and historical water structures Ali Asghar Semsar Yazdi said that there are interesting points concerning Qanat management in Iran and Indonesia, according to IRNA.
He said that Iran and Indonesia have similar traditional technics about Qanat management helpful for the world sustainable development.
Yazdi said that there are similarities between Sobak tradition in Bali Island and intangible cultural heritage of Qanat in Iran.
Qanat is a water structure initiated by Iranians several thousand years ago and the longest one in the world is in mid-center province of Yazd in Iran.
Indonesian sculpturist Newman Noartha said in the meeting that changing the people's conception on culture, cultural heritage maintenance strategies should be defined.
It is necessary that people have comprehensive understanding on culture, to change their beliefs on value of culture.
Director of Rural Renovation Center from Liang Xoming in China Laning Zhang presented his views as well.
She said that geographical situation of Indonesia has created capacities to develop intangible cultural heritage.
Zhang said that Indonesia and China have common grounds for cooperation with Iran on management of rice farms, especially in southwestern Indonesia and northern China.
Ministerial meeting of World Culture Forum is to wrap up on Thursday in Bali, Indonesia.
