Foreign Ministry rejects claims of Iran’s failure to win UN Human Rights Council membership
EghtesadOnline: Iranian Foreign Ministry rejected claims that Iran has failed to win the vote of the United Nations Human Rights Council in favor of its membership in the body.
The Foreign Ministry Media Department in a statement reaffirmed that the news was false.
It stressed that contrary to what some sites and social media have claimed Iran never sought candidacy for the United Nations Human Rights Council so the news is baseless, according to IRNA.
Saudi Arabia, China, Egypt, Iraq, Japan, Hungary and Croatia had applied for the membership in the body.
