Trump statements on Muslims worrisome: Araki
EghtesadOnline: Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) Ayatollah Mohsen Araki said on Wednesday that the US president-elect Donald Trump's statements about Muslims are very worrisome.
He made the remarks in a meeting with Chinese scholars and elites.
He said that Trump made rhetorical statement about Muslims stirring Islamophobia and that the rhetorics may create difficulties for the Muslims in Europe and the US, according to IRNA.
'Today, we witness conflict in Yemen, Syria and Iraq killing large number of innocent people every day. Many human rights violations have been perpetrated against Muslims in Bahrain,' he said.
Muslims are facing many problems in South Asia, especially in Myanmar, he said, hoping that Islamic community's problems will be relieved through cooperation by the Chinese scholars and other Islamic figures.
Describing Chinese Muslim community as significant and influential, the cleric said that Chinese scholars' visit to Iran can help strengthen bilateral ties and pave the way for cooperation on proximity among the religions.
