Swiss President: Tehran, Bern keen to expand economic ties
EghtesadOnline: President of Switzerland Johann Schneider-Ammann in a meeting with the Chief of Staff of Iranian President's office Mohammad Nahavandian on Thursday said he saw no problems on the way of expanding economic relations between the two countries.
In the meeting, Nahavandian too underlined the expansion of economic ties by drawing a roadmap which would facilitate programming, IRNA reported.
Given the interests of international companies in investing and cooperating in different sectors of Iran's economy, Nahavandian said that Switzerland, as a big world finance center, can play an important role in supporting investors.
He added that Iranian banks have prepared situation and necessities for cooperation with foreign banks and are ready for interactions.
Considering effective cooperation of Switzerland's senior officials and the interest of Swiss banks and financial institutions for cooperating with Iran, the official noted, there is hope that in a short period wide and effective activities take place between the two countries.
President Schneider-Ammann expressed pleasure over his talks and agreements with President Hassan Rouhani in the UN headquarters in New York and said that the talks reached concrete results and economic exchange volume increased by two fold.
He also expressed the interest of the Switzerland's government in speeding up and continuing the cooperation.
President Schneider-Ammann , who is also responsible for Economy Ministry, by referring to effective negotiations between Iran and Switzerland officials in recent months, expressed hope that during next week visit of Switzerland deputy Economy Minister to Tehran, more agreements could be achieved between the two countries.
Nahavandian arrived in Bern on Wednesday evening for talks with Swiss president and bankers and considering ways to develop banking ties and financial, monetary cooperation.
