MP: Rouhani visit a beginning for fast development of Tehran-Yerevan ties
EghtesadOnline: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani's visit to Yerevan will be the beginning of the fast development of relations between Iran and Armenia, the Vice-Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Eduard Sharmazanov said.
According to Armenia's state news agency, the Armenpress News Agency, Sharmazanov told reporters that Iran and Armenia are committed to develop their relations in political and economic fields.
Iran plays a key role in the region, he noted.
The official said that development of cooperation between Tehran and Yerevan is at the interest of both countries, IRNA reported.
He said that promotion of bilateral ties will be a major topic of discussions between Iranian President and his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan.
According to the local dispatches, Iran-Armenia joint trade forum is expected to be held in Armenia during Rouhani's visit to the country.
The volume of trade exchanges between Iran and Armenia was 276.3 million dollars in 2015
President Rouhani is scheduled to pay a visit to the regional states including Armenia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan upon invitations from his counterparts.
President Rouhani will leave Tehran for Yerevan on December 21.
During his one-day stay in Armenia, the President is to confer with his Armenian counterpart on bolstering mutual relations and cooperation as well as deepening of relations with the neighboring as well as regional states.
The Iranian and Armenian officials will also sign some Memorandums of Understandings (MoUs) to broaden cooperation.
After Armenia, President Rouhani will go Kazakhstan to meet Kazakh president and high ranking officials to sign some memorandums of understanding and take part in a joint press conference with his Kazakh counterpart.
Kyrgyzstan is the last leg of the president's central Asian tour to confer with Kyrgyz president and senior officials to sign MoUs for economic cooperation.
