Iran, Sri Lanka to Expand Tech Cooperation

Iran’s vice president for science and technology, Sorena Sattari, met Tuesday with Susil Premajayantha, the Lankan Minister of Science, Technology and Research. Premajayantha was heading a scientific delegation on a visit to Tehran.  The two sides held talks to expand cooperation in the areas of nanotechnology, biotechnology, information and communication technology, IRNA reported. Sattari said the MoU also stipulates that Iran will help equip a crude oil, natural gas and lubricant laboratory in Sri Lanka, Financial Tribune reported. The VP added that it is of utmost importance for Iran to expand scientific cooperation with the South Asian state.  Iran currently has 2,800 registered science-based firms and the number is expected to increase by almost 200 by the end of the fiscal year that ends in March.
